The new ways to do business This point is very important. Because we have a strong technologic background AND the today's different nature of the business, our MBA program covers the major business disciplines from a technology perspective, and considers the business and technology issues facing today’s companies. The business is more and more the technology, and vice-versa. The companies are more and more electronics, as for examples the ERP Enterprise Resources Planning, the CRM Customer Relationship Management, the Voice over IP VoIP, the sophisticated Call Centers, etc. Therefore, a modern Business Administrator must learn these new ways to do business and how to manage these modern enterprises. Very
modern and imperative The old and standard Business Administration concepts present in any MBA program are very important, but today the companies are very different. Our Open University

Our extensive background Our Open University began his operations in Brazil in 1997, under the name of JCMelo Open University. During those 5 years, we have had more than 15,000 students from all countries, in our two high level courses CIO Chief Information Officer and IME Internet Marketing Engineering. In June 2001 we transferred our operations to the United States, beginning our international operations with the new name Abet Open University of Miami and including the new course "MBA program" in English, Portuguese and Spanish. But really the begin of our Open University it is much older, because our old holding company JCMelo Consultoria Técnica during more than 10 years - 1967 up to 1976 - trained more than 1,500 college graduated engineers of biggest Brazilian companies (Furnas, Chesf, Petrobrás, Embratel, Cemig, Usiminas, and many others) doing special courses on enterprise and process control systems with computers, in reality the first courses on these matters in Brazil. Also our old holding company JCMelo Consultoria Técnica designed more than 1,000 Information Systems during 27 years, in Brazil and foreign, and during this period started the first computer factory in South America. More than 2,000 Brazilian newspaper news shows the continuous technical success of this company. Our
courses and programs Lato Sensu means a free course and Stricto Sensu means a course with obligatory previous courses or Diploma, from the student.
| In some countries exists "registered" (the so-called "Accredited" in United States) and "no-registered" courses. Don't exist in United States a centralized registration in an Education Secretary to "validate" a Diploma, instead exists some private organizations to do the "Accreditation" of an University, by a fee normally very high between US$ 50,000.00 up to US$ 1 million. However the University "Accreditation" process is voluntary, and even several regular and important Universities don't ask for. a. Can I interrupt the Course for any reason? Yes, if you don't have any over-due debit in your account. You can continue in the future, starting from the point that interrupted. b. Next class? Each class begins in the week following the Registration. c. Durations and Costs?
The is no legal obligation to do the entire program. d. How is the final examination and the Diploma? And if I don't pass? The final examination doesn't exist. The final level will be measured from the tests at each 4 lessons and must be a minimum of 6.00. The Diploma will be supplied to the approved in the final level evaluation. If you don't pass you will have an additional month of recovery, without additional cost. Not to happen again, you will receive a Certificate of Participation. JCMelo, with 50 years in computer systems engineering (hardware and software) and technology entrepreneurship in Brazil and in foreign. f. How is the monthly payment? The first 4 weeks (and followings) must be paid in advance, at each 4 weeks in the same day of the Registration, by several ways described in the link "Registration" in the top of this page. After the deposit confirmation, we will send an invoice by regular mail, for the company that is sponsoring the MBA program for its employee if it goes the case. |

h. Does exist an automated up-dates system? All new matters included in our MBA program in any time is sent automatically, through E-mail, to all our current and former students. This procedure has great importance for the former student to stay up-to-date, because in this field the updates are very frequents. Click here, to see a real example of one of those up-dates. i. How I can Register? First click in the link "Registration" in the top of this page, and after the payment was done please access the respective form in the same link. j. About the methodology of the Course? About the methodology, we preferred to create our own one and not to use the existent WBT Web Based Training packages, because of the necessary inter-activity between us and the Students. Like this being, a lesson is sent by e-mail every week and at every 4 lessons a test is answered by the Student using the Internet, and all negative answers will be obligatorily individually commented by our Teachers by e-mails, in a maximum of 72 hours. Exactly this is what the WBT packages don't have. It is a simple methodology, but very effective because of his great inter-activity, and this is the most important point in any distance course. k. And our name Abet? Abet represent to encourage, incite, aid, assist, countenance, foment, support, sustain, and the inverse of deter, disapprove, frustrate, forbid. This is our University. l.
